Letterpressed & Foil Stamped Advent Calendar

We had so much fun coming up with this year's holiday card.  In fact, we started on it last December, when we had the idea, just a little too late!  We giggled as we came up with the facts behind the different windows, and teased Erin every time some one suggested free shipping as a promo (since she has the final say over accounting at Haute Papier, she always vetoes this one).

The card actually had several runs through several different printers to get to the end product.  First the fronts were letterpressed in red, followed by foil stamping in gold.  While those were then being die cut and scored, we worked on the insides.  Since we actually made two different versions of the card - one for Haute Box subscribers and one for our wholesale vendors, we had four runs for the inside red pieces.  And because our new white printer wouldn't print as big as the inside piece needed to be, we had to glue two pieces to the inside!  Finally, we glued on the backing to seal it all together.

And last, but not least, we ran the computer calligraphy on the red envelopes and put our elves (aka finishing department) to work placing the 4 stamps on the outside.

We hope you enjoy the card as much as we enjoyed putting it together for you!  Happy Holidays!

At the National Stationery Show 2013

Phew!  What an amazing year at the National Stationery Show!  We are delighted to say we had our best show yet (5th year exhibiting and counting!) and loved seeing all our current vendors and meeting new stores too! Here are a few photos recapping our time in NYC.

Paper Party in Brooklyn

We're back and finally getting through shipping all of the orders from this year's National Stationery Show and are excited to share some photos from The Year of Party that we hosted with our friends from Dabney Lee and Rock Paper Scissors.  We had a blast previewing our new collections while sipping bubbly and loved seeing some of our favorite stores before the show started including Therese St. Clair, Sweet PaperLee's Specialty and Judy Paulen Designs - and we loved meeting new stores too! We hope you loved seeing what's new from each of us and look forward to continuing to bring bright and shiny new and old favorites to the market!

Come see us at The National Stationery Show!

We do hope you'll stop by Booth 2144-2146 to see everything that's new at the Nationals Stationery Show from May 19 - 22 at the Javits Center in NYC.  See our mailers below for a sneak peek or come follow us on Instagram at @hautepapier for a plethora of photos giving you the inside scoop!

Gilded in Gold Easter Eggs

Dying Easter eggs has always been an important family tradition in the Meyer house and as the children who used to guard their mugs of eggs soaking until they couldn't get any more color got older, the tradition has evolved with each of us celebrating the holiday with our own new traditions.  This year I decided to try a new take on the annual craft and was so excited to come across this super DIY tutorial for foiling eggs.  The process is actually pretty simple - especially if you've worked with gold gilding sheets in the past.  I found the eggs took the size (the glue for foil sheets) much better at room temperature.  Pics of my project after the jump.  Happy Easter!a
