Design = Love for the Monday/Wednesday Gals

It’s Elaine and Mandy again!  We both feel like our individual strengths and passion for design will contribute to Haute Papier.

One of Elaine’s strengths is her artistic ability.  She enjoys incorporating hand-done designs into adobe software.  Her professor and freelance designer and illustrator, Melissa Scotton, inspired Elaine to explore different aspects of the design world.

One of Mandy’s strengths is her organization skills and design in adobe software.  She enjoys designing magazine page layouts in her Media Arts and Design coursework at JMU.  In her spare time she loves crafting scrapbooks and posters for her family and friends.

We hope to apply our strengths and inspirations to Haute Papier’s style this summer.  In the upcoming weeks we will share with you various designs for Haute Papier’s holiday line.  We encourage you to check back frequently for a few sneak peeks of our holiday designs!

The Monday/Wednesday Gals!

dsc06083Hi Everyone!  Our names are Elaine Spivey and Mandy Smoot, and we are two college students interning at Haute Papier this summer.  Elaine of Fairfax, Virginia, is a rising junior and Graphic Design major at Shepherd University.  Mandy of Nokesville, Virginia, is a rising senior and Media Arts & Design major at James Madison University.  We chose to spend our summer interning at Haute Papier because we both saw it as a great opportunity to utilize our design skills and expand our creative knowledge.  Elaine is still in search of her ideal design career path, while Mandy hopes to work for a company as their graphic designer or design page layouts for a magazine publication. We are both extremely eager to learn more about Haute Papier as the summer weeks progress.  Our goal is to return to college in the fall with a portfolio that displays our broadened sense of creativity and design.  We encourage you to keep track of our weekly updates, which will include a wide variety of design topics such as wedding design plans and our inspirational paths that leads to our creative ideas!

Recap from the Show

I realized that I hadn't shared pictures from the actual stationery show.  Shame on me!  Here's our booth all set up... sarah_meyer_walsh_and_erin_1

Overall, we had a great show and are looking forward to working with all of our new vendors.  We're up to our necks getting the binders ready and are excited to get them out and into the stores!

And we're off!

For starters, welcome to Haute Papier's blog! Erin and I excited to be sharing the adventures of owning a custom and wholesale stationery studio through this new interface and hope we'll keep you entertained with anecdotes of our daily trials, tribulations and successes.I arrived in NYC for the National Stationery Show yesterday for the official launch of our new lines and it's exciting! The preparation was long and arduous, but now that we're here and the booth is almost completely set up, it's time for action! We'll be posting live from the show starting on Sunday, but until then, here are a couple of pictures of the move in to hold you over.nss_packing1.jpgnss-before.jpgnss-deliver-copy.jpgnss-ironing.jpg nss-hockley.jpg
